Planetary Transits
Planetary transits are the foundation of every daily horoscope. Understanding how the planets move through the zodiac helps you comprehend why each day brings a different energy.
What Are Transits?
In astrology, a transit occurs when a planet in its current position in the sky forms a significant angle with a point in your birth chart. Your birth chart is a fixed snapshot of the sky at the exact moment of your birth; transits are the moving sky compared to that snapshot.
Imagine your birth chart as a stopped clock. Transits are the hands that keep turning. When a transiting planet touches a sensitive point in your chart, it activates that energy: it can bring opportunities, challenges, emotional clarity, or moments of transformation.
That is why your horoscope changes every day. It is not that your sign changes, but that the planets form different angles with your natal Sun, your natal Moon, and the rest of your astrological map. Some transits last hours (like the Moon's), others last years (like Pluto's). Each one has its own rhythm and purpose.

The 5 Major Aspects
An aspect is the angle formed between two planets as seen from Earth. These angles activate different types of energy: some flow with ease, others generate tension that drives growth. The five major aspects are the most potent.
Conjunction
Two planets occupy the same degree of the zodiac. Their energies merge and amplify each other. It is the most powerful aspect: it marks new cycles. It can be harmonious or challenging depending on the planets involved.
Sextile
A 60-degree angle creates opportunities that require a small effort to activate. It is a friendly aspect that connects signs of compatible elements. It gives nothing for free, but opens doors if you decide to walk through them.
Square
The square generates friction between two energies that do not naturally understand each other. It is uncomfortable, but it is the engine of personal growth. Without squares, there would be no motivation to change. They are the aspects that strengthen us the most.
Trine
The trine connects signs of the same element, creating a natural flow of energy. Everything moves effortlessly. It is the aspect of innate talents and good fortune, although its ease can breed complacency if not properly leveraged.
Opposition
Two planets face each other from opposite sides of the zodiac. This tension creates awareness: you see both extremes of a dilemma clearly. The lesson is to integrate the opposites, not to choose one. Oppositions often manifest through relationships.

Retrograde Planets
What does retrograde mean?
From Earth's perspective, sometimes a planet appears to move backward across the sky. It does not actually move backward; it is an optical effect caused by differences in orbital speed. Think of when you overtake a car on the highway: for a moment, it seems to go in reverse, even though both are moving forward.
In astrology, retrograde periods invite us to review, rethink, and reconsider the themes that planet governs. They are not "bad" periods; they are necessary pauses to correct course before moving forward with greater clarity.
Most important retrogrades
- Mercury retrograde — The most famous. It occurs 3 to 4 times a year, lasting about 3 weeks. It affects communication, technology, contracts, and travel. Recommendation: review before sending, back up your files, and avoid signing new contracts if possible.
- Venus retrograde — Every 18 months, for ~40 days. A time to reevaluate relationships, personal values, and finances. Ex-partners may reappear. Not ideal for starting new relationships or cosmetic procedures.
- Mars retrograde — Every ~2 years, for ~2.5 months. Energy drops, motivation decreases, and impulsive actions backfire. It is a time for strategy, not attack. Review your battles before fighting them.
- Jupiter retrograde — ~4 months per year. Growth turns inward. A good time to study, reflect on your beliefs, and plan future expansion without acting yet.
- Saturn retrograde — ~4.5 months per year. You review your structures, responsibilities, and boundaries. External restrictions may ease, but internal discipline is put to the test.
Remember: a retrograde planet is not your enemy. It is a teacher asking you to pause, look back, and make sure your foundations are solid before continuing to build.
